Happy Thanksgiving

Even though it's dark, dreary and pouring rain, I feel incredibly thankful. So hug your babies and enjoy time with your family and friends this fine Thanksgiving morn. :)

Canada Day

Happy Canada Day!! :D

It's been a long week for me, especially since I've been fighting a bad head cold (I know: who gets a cold in the middle of summer?  Personally I blame my wee toddlers--many of whom have been sick over the past few weeks).  Happy to be able to rest and drink lots of tea.

Wherever you are in this fine country, I hope you are surrounded with family and good friends.  Enjoy the long weekend! :)

A Day for Moms

Here in the Maritimes, the lobster fishing opens about a week or so before Mother's Day.  So in many communities, there are traditional lobster meals served on Mother's Day.   This afternoon, I will partake of this maritime tradition with family.

As I enjoy my buttery crustacean with freshly baked rolls and green salad, I wilI give thanks for all that I have, modest as it seems.  There are those who have much less.  And although my own mom will be miles away, I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the mothers out there.  Thank for you for your time, your kind words, your hugs and most of all, your love. :)

Shouldn't Every Day Be Love Day?

Too cynical, perhaps?  Maybe.  The older I get, the more critical I become of our disposable, consumerist society with it's on-demand, 24/7, must-have-now mentality.  And don't get me started on the science-denying, intolerant masses who leave nasty anonymous comments touting ignorance and hate.  What?  Too much?  Okay, I'll get off my high-horse.

Hey look at these pretty crochet hearts.  Someone made a pretty crochet heart garland.  This craftiness should change my mood . . .  ;)

Happy Happy, Merry Merry

Even though I've been MIA these past few weeks, you were never far from my thoughts.  So many times I had photos, but no time OR time but no photos--what with work and school and lots of Christmas knitting . . . Rest assured, we'll be catching up soon.

Meanwhile, thank you for your patience.  Hope your day is filled with joy and happiness as you celebrate the season with family and friends.  Have a great Christmas!

Lots of love,

Never Forget . . . .

It was a lovely Remembrance Day ceremony this morning at the town's war memorial/cenotaph.  Maybe it was just my impression, but there seemed to be more people this year than last.  In any case, it was moving and poignant to hear from the speakers and see the veterans, soldiers and cadets.

Happy Egg Day

Hope you and your family had a nice Egg Day.

We've been hit by illness: some of us were sick while others were recovering.  So it was a quiet Easter Sunday, spent in pajamas under blankets on the couch.  Here's hoping everyone gets well soon.

Happy New Year's!

With the start of the new year, I look back on 2014 and am amazed at all the changes and personal adversity I had to slog through.  And amidst the struggles and challenges, there were happy moments too.  Nothing like stress or conflict to help one discover one's own strength.  Through adversity, one reflects and hopefully grows.  To the future I go with new-found hope and strength.

To all my family, friends and followers, I say "Merry, merry!  Happy, happy!"  May the new year bring joy, happiness, good health, much prosperity . . .

Happy Post-Halloween

How was your Halloween night?  Did you get many tricker-treaters?  We get no visitors that night--too far out in the country, I guess (That will, no doubt, change next year when we are living in town again).

I failed to get a photo of my boys dressed up.  We dropped them off at a friend's house and they got dressed there, so photo opportunity missed (I'll get them dressed up once we're moved into our new place).

Right now I'm up to my eyeballs in boxes, boxes and more boxes.  So please forgive this short post and the lack of crafty content.  Next weekend is our final one in the farmhouse and then we're back in town in our own place . . . .

Thanksgiving

So here's a little something to celebrate the day and the weekend.  Here's hoping you will spend it with friends and family.  Happy Thanksgiving!

I am especially thankful for supportive and loving people in my life: my dear hubby and my children.  At the same time I am saddened by the loss of someone whom I had believed to be a friend.  Nothing like stressful times to reveal the true nature of some individuals.  At least I can see clearly now . . .

Happy Canada Day!

Here's hoping you're enjoying the day, wherever you may be across this fine country.  Hope you have good friends and loved ones nearby to share the start of summer.  After all, summer really doesn't start until the July 1st festivities.  School is officially out for the kiddies and there's often a long weekend--although this year didn't quite work out as a long weekend (hope some folks were able to take the extra day off).
Have a good one friends!  Cheers!

Road Trip . . .

Red rose from a grand opening--very classy!
Now that summer has finally arrived, we're using our weekends to spend time with the kids. Usually we end up on a road trip--perhaps a visit to the city, maybe a quaint little town or dip in the ocean?  No matter where we go, I love watching the countryside as we putt-putt along the highway . . .
View from my window . . .
As with any road trip, its not just the destination that matters.  There's lots of great stuff that happens along the way: cool tunes, good conversation, lovely scenery--and in-car crafting!  Seriously!!  I love knitting or hooking in the car--even if I sometimes end up with boo-boos (Only another crafter can truly appreciate the joys of car-crafting).  Viola, my car-hooking:
Pink square in progress
Right now I've got tons of squares stored away in a bag in my room.  All those lonely squares, waiting to be joined . . . soon, my pretties.  Very soon.

Here's hoping that whatever the weather, wherever you are (it's pouring buckets in my neck of the woods), you have an enjoyable day.  Hope you are surrounded by loved ones and feeling loved.

Have a good week!
