It's been a long week for me, especially since I've been fighting a bad head cold (I know: who gets a cold in the middle of summer?  Personally I blame my wee toddlers--many of whom have been sick over the past few weeks).  Happy to be able to rest and drink lots of tea.

Wherever you are in this fine country, I hope you are surrounded with family and good friends.  Enjoy the long weekend! :)

Here's hoping you're enjoying the day, wherever you may be across this fine country.  Hope you have good friends and loved ones nearby to share the start of summer.  After all, summer really doesn't start until the July 1st festivities.  School is officially out for the kiddies and there's often a long weekend--although this year didn't quite work out as a long weekend (hope some folks were able to take the extra day off).

Finished Slippers

Enjoying my finished slippers. The fit is good, although I think I could go up a needle size next time.

Which one looks neater?

Notice the seaming?  The one on the left is messier, while the one on the right is much neater.  No matter.  These will fit the bill nicely.

What are your plans for the long weekend?  Mine will hopefully include outdoor activities, some wine accompanied by a fun read (been on an Agatha Christie kick of late) and some knitting (between socks and slippers, my hands are full--so to speak).  And if the temperature holds, I may even venture to the local beaches with my boys.

Don't ya just love a day off mid week?  Yesterday felt like Friday (but it was only Wednesday).  Tomorrow is actually Friday, so I've got two Saturdays to play--and maybe crochet for fun . . .

Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we can spend some time outdoors (summer weather has been sporadic at best).  It would be nice to participate in some of the Canada Day festivities happening 'round town.
