Hope you and your family had a nice Egg Day.

We've been hit by illness: some of us were sick while others were recovering.  So it was a quiet Easter Sunday, spent in pajamas under blankets on the couch.  Here's hoping everyone gets well soon.

Pretty eggs?  The kids and I had fun playing 'round with the dyes.  We even went egg hunting in the melting snow . .

Now don't think it was all work--lots of R&R.  There's nothing like a long weekend for extra rest and relaxation.  Surprisingly warm temperatures and loads of sunshine left me further contented.  And of course, there was plenty of delicious meals, goodies and treats . . . life is good!

Chick with Eggs

Having an egg-cellent day!  Hope you're enjoying your Easter weekend with family and friends too (and yes, that is snow outside *grumble, grumble*).   


In spite of the weather, I love long weekends.  Even more so since we've moved to the country.  There's always something to do: blogging, crafting and baking; some gardening (getting the flowerbeds cleaned up); and always cleaning and re-organizing (when is one truly "moved in"?  Is it when the very last box disappears?  Suffice to say we're not quite there yet.).

Easter Whimsy

I'm hoping you're all enjoying the Easter weekend--and that the weather has been cooperative wherever you are.  It finally feels like spring in my corner of the world which prompted a walk about the neighbourhood.  We don't really decorate for the holiday, but it was fun to enjoy some of our neighbours' Easter whimsy.

And of course we've been busy dyeing eggs.  Not too many, but it was fun to share with my little niece.  Sadly some of the eggs cracked--but I'm sure they'll still be tasty.

So with the long weekend, you'd think I'd be more productive with my time . . . not so much.  Not too much knitting (and I had such high hopes).  The weather has been incredible (as in forget spring; it feels like summer!).  So we've been outdoors as much as possible ('cuz I have a feelin' it ain't gonna last).  We puttered 'round outside, cleaning off the deck, preparing the BBQ and clearing debris from the garden beds.

And much to my surprise, there was a bevy of activity in my wee garden.  My crocuses are ready to bloom--almost a month ahead of schedule!

Other things are growing too: the bleeding hearts and hostas have begun sprouting, the dianthus are showing signs of life and so are the sliver beacons and aurea.

It all seems a wee bit early . . . not that I'm complaining.  I'm loving all the sunshine and warmth.  It's a welcome change from the dreary days of cold winter.

And of course, in anticipation of Easter we coloured eggs with the kids.  We usually use one of those kits sold in the grocery store.

I'm not much for wearing pastels, but I do love how the soft colours compliment each other.  Aren't they pretty?

The kids look forward to a visit from the Easter Bunny who always drops off a few things: some chocolate eggs, perhaps a book, a craft kit or an outdoor toy.  I look forward to a quiet and relaxing day, hanging out with all my guys.
