Ack!

I did it! And I feel so stupid . . . Ugh!!  The thought makes me sick to my stomach . . . Remember my laptop's hard drive was failing?  Well the whole hard drive had to be replaced.

Foolishly I had neglected to make copies of my photos 'cuz I was so certain I had already saved most of my photos onto an external hard drive.  But I hadn't.  And I had forgotten that they were no longer on my old laptop.  So  **gasp**  they're gone!

Thanks heavens for Facebook.  I found some nice albums there.  And hubby was eventually able to find some old disks with photos.  Now I'm only missing a few from 2007 to 2010 (where initially I thought everything from 2000 to 2011 was gone).  Yay, the baby photos are safe (and thankfully I had scrapbooked some of them).

I've learned my lesson:  burn copies onto disk ALWAYS and PRINT the best ones to scrapbook (or put into photo albums).  This will be my new mission this summer . . .

So forgive me if some of my crafting efforts shift from all things yarny and focus on all things paper.

Crafting . . .

Crafty Pursuits
On this chilly Saturday, I'm busy crafting away: scrapping a gift album for my parents.  Its their Christmas gift.  Every year it gets harder and harder to find gifts for my folks; they're very particular, so I thought a lovely album would be very personal and much appreciated  (I can safely reveal that here 'cuz my folks don't know 'bout the interwebs. They don't even own a computer, so I figure I'm safe--as long as my brother and sisters stay mum 'bout my crafty plans).
Second Sock
And rest assured there has been knitting.  Trying to knock off another languishing WIP from my long list.  I started my second toe-up sock.  Its a ribbed sock I started in the summer.  The first sock went rather quickly, but then I never cast-on for the second one and my hands were busy with other projects  . . well, you know how it goes.  So many crafty diversions, so little time . . .

Merry Christmas!

Just finished my last shift at work.  Thankfully it was only a half-day.  Officially I'm now on Christmas break till the new year.

One last gift to finish on Christmas Eve (who knew that hand-crafted gifts take so much time?).  I've been scrapping my little heart out the past two weeks.  Just one more page and I'm done.  My little elves (aka dear hubby and the kids) have been busily wrapping gifts all week.

In a few hours I'm gonna sip some wine and bask in the warm glow of the flickering tree lights. My boys will probably snuggle with us as we watch some holiday fare on the old tube.

Have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones!

Mind the Mess

It's just  some of my scrapbooking stuff.  One of my little ones was sick today and it was my turn to stay home (dear hubby did his duty yesterday).  I decided to take advantage of the time to work on a special scrapbook--so I'm not showing you any of the finished pages.

When I started scrapping a few years back, I used to make sketches and it would take me forever to complete a double page spread.  These days I don't scrap as often as I'd like to; however, when I do get the chance, I'm more laid back about it.  I let the pictures "talk" to me .

I guess some knitters do the same thing too.  They let the yarn "talk" to them to discover what the yarn would like to be.  I don't think I can hear my yarn talking.  Rather, when I start a project usually its the pattern that attracts me first .  Then I search for yarn to fit the pattern.  Guess everyone works in their own way.

Happy knittin' (or scrappin')
